Simple English definitions for legal terms

nonjoinder

Read a random definition: process

A quick definition of nonjoinder:

Nonjoinder is when someone who should be included in a lawsuit is not. This can happen if a necessary person is left out by mistake or on purpose. It is important to include all necessary parties in a lawsuit to make sure everyone's rights are protected. In patents, nonjoinder can also happen if a co-inventor is not named in the patent application. Nonjoinder is different from misjoinder, which is when someone is included in a lawsuit who should not be, and disjoinder, which is when a lawsuit is split into separate cases.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: Nonjoinder refers to the failure to include a necessary party in a lawsuit. It can also refer to the failure to name a co-inventor in a patent application.

Example: If a person is involved in a car accident and sues the driver for damages, but fails to include the owner of the car in the lawsuit, this would be considered nonjoinder. The owner of the car is a necessary party because they may be liable for damages as well.

Explanation: In the example given, the owner of the car is a necessary party because they may be responsible for the accident. If they are not included in the lawsuit, the case may not be able to proceed or the plaintiff may not be able to recover all of the damages they are entitled to.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
Give it 4 more weeks at least. Everyone in this chat needs to wait longer.
