This refusal means the non-recognizing government does not consider the other entity to be a valid participant in the international system, often leading to a lack of diplomatic relations, treaties, or official interactions.

• Example 1: Following a Military Coup

  After a military junta seizes power in Country A, overthrowing its democratically elected government, several international powers announce their nonrecognition of the new military regime. They refuse to send ambassadors, engage in official state visits, or sign new treaties with the junta, signaling that they do not view it as the legitimate governing authority of Country A.
