Pactional describes anything that relates to or helps create an agreement or contract between parties.

Here are some examples to illustrate this concept:

• Imagine a scenario where two companies are negotiating the terms for a new software licensing deal. All the emails, draft contracts, and meeting minutes exchanged during this negotiation phase are considered pactional documents. They are directly involved in the process of forming the final agreement between the two businesses.

• When a landlord and a tenant discuss and finalize the terms of a lease, including rent, duration, and responsibilities, the discussions themselves and the resulting lease document are pactional. They are the elements that generate the legally binding agreement for the rental property.

• Consider a situation where neighbors are trying to resolve a dispute over a shared fence. If they sit down and write out a mutual understanding about who will pay for repairs and how future maintenance will be handled, that written understanding is a pactional document. It serves to create an agreement between them to settle their disagreement.
