Planning Board

A Planning Board is a group of appointed or elected citizens who serve as a local government body, typically at the city, town, or county level. Its primary role is to review and make decisions on proposed land development projects and changes to land use within its jurisdiction. This includes evaluating whether proposed building projects, subdivisions, or significant property alterations comply with local zoning ordinances, master plans, and other land use regulations. The board often considers factors such as environmental impact, traffic flow, infrastructure needs, and community character before approving, denying, or modifying proposals. In many areas, the Planning Board's decisions may be subject to further review or final approval by a higher local authority, such as a city council or county commission.
