Simple English definitions for legal terms

Vehicular homicide

Read a random definition: non obstante

A quick definition of Vehicular homicide:

Vehicular homicide is when someone drives a car in a way that is against the law or careless, and it causes someone else to die. It's also called automobile homicide or vehicular manslaughter. Different places have different laws about it, but it's usually easier to prove than manslaughter because the person doesn't have to mean to hurt anyone.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: Vehicular homicide is a crime that occurs when someone causes the death of another person while unlawfully or negligently operating a motor vehicle. It is also known as automobile homicide or vehicular manslaughter. The laws regarding vehicular homicide vary depending on the jurisdiction, but it is generally easier to prove than manslaughter because it requires a less culpable mental state.

Examples:

  • A driver who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol and causes a fatal accident could be charged with vehicular homicide.
  • A driver who is texting while driving and causes a fatal accident could also be charged with vehicular homicide.

These examples illustrate how vehicular homicide occurs when someone causes the death of another person while operating a motor vehicle in an unlawful or negligent manner. It is important for drivers to always follow traffic laws and avoid distractions while driving to prevent accidents and avoid being charged with vehicular homicide.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)

Sent an app to OSU in early december and have STILL not heard back
