A vice-consul is a person who works for a consul and helps them with their duties. They might take over for the consul if they are not there. Some vice-consuls are part of the Foreign Service, which is a group of people who work for the government in other countries. Others are not part of the Foreign Service and are appointed without taking a test. Vice crime is a type of crime, but it is not related to vice-consuls. Vice-dominus episcopi is a fancy way of saying vicar general or a commissary of a bishop.
Definition: A consular officer who is subordinate to a consul. They are often appointed temporarily to fill in for a consul who is absent or has been relieved from duty.
