Oh, when the hawks (when the hawks) Go tuah (tuah) Now, when the hawk go tuah (tuah) Yes, I want to spit on that thang When the hawk go tuah

I mean the LSAT does have a pretty decent correlation with 1L grades.
If it's any indication, the class behind me is larger than our class. Just 1 school tho
texaslawhopefully

And combining LSAT + GPA leads to a correlation as high as .6.

@GreyCeaselessMammoth: I fully concur
16:00
at the very least the LSAT is a signifier of how serious you are about law school
I spoke with someone who went to law school in the 1970's they got an equal to what a 160 is today and got into UCLA law mostly full ride with housing stipend

i was actually feeling myself getting more analytical and detail oriented as i studied for the lsat, i can't imagine how i'll feel after 1L

i think we can only see the lsat as a valid test if study materials are free and available to all. If everyone has the capacity to learn it, then those with means to afford tutoring/resources have a considerable advantage
I get that lsat medians are sky high, but a 4 section test (1 experimental), in a very comfortable testing environment, AND you can shoot at it 5 times with no penalty

It's impossible to derive any meaning from the LSAT other than someone is good at logic. If someone geta over like a 155 they essentially can be an attorney. It's just competitiveness after that and financial resources.
practically a different test than 10 years ago

I remember for undergrad, you needed a 4.0 and a 33+ ACT to be competitive for T20s. I think law school admissions will follow the same path, to where top stats are a baseline and it will become more holistic from there.
GreyCeaselessMammoth
16:03
if the lsat is anything like the SAT, studies show that it is less influenced by class than gpa is
16:03
at least places like 7sage have $1 complete prep courses if you have a LSAC fee waiver
@HowlEngineer: life changing
texaslawhopefully
16:03
@IrishDinosaur: That's fair, but I also think it's a better alternative than going off fancy resume lines or really tailored personal statements. For undergrad at least, there's research indicating test optional admissions leads to more socioeconomical inequities within admissions.
GreyCeaselessMammoth
16:03
think of how much more expensive it is to get a good gpa for four years than to get a good lsat
GreyCeaselessMammoth
16:03
you can pay people to write your personal statements, you can't pay someone to take the lsat for you (legally)
i am a $1 7sage success story lmao
IrishDinosaur
16:04
@texaslawhopefully: that makes a lot of sense too.
IrishDinosaur
16:04
hell yeah windy
16:04
My 2016 GPA would love to be inflation adjusted though
@windyMagician: twinsies
@windyMagician: same here

wish i knew about that thing back in august. I just studied out a book...
GreyCeaselessMammoth

7sage actually changed the tragectory of my life i think
good enough to get UCLA with a fancy scholarship :)
suddy

I drilled the LawHub practice tests until I got better
yeah Epstein is a crazy good outcome
