Admitted to Drake UniversityApply ASAP. You have a much higher chance of getting into a school when you apply when applications open. You also have a much higher chance of getting a scholarship.
Yes, I had a low LSAT score. But I worked really hard in undergrad and made sure my resume and transcripts set me apart from the rest. I held 5 leadership positions on campus, competed in business competitions, had internships, networked, and did a ton of stuff. Biggest tips: Apply early, I waited too long. You have…
Listen to Rejuvenation by JJ Sansaverino, it’s life changing.
Wait as close as you can until the seat deposit deadline before attempting to get scholarships reconsidered.
For advice, the best I can say is don’t apply late in the cycle like I did. Had I been able to take the LSAT earlier and apply earlier, I could have maybe gotten into some schools where I was waitlisted and rejected. My top choices where I was accepted were Washington and Lee, Kansas, Wisconsin, Idaho, and Florida…
Big tip: if you did Americorps, TFA, Peace Corps, or even just are struggling financially, ask the admissions for a fee waiver. I paid for 2 applications total, excluding the CAS Report $45 fee, and that allowed me to actually apply to multiple schools in different regions I’m interested living in. Personal…
Apply wide. Really wide. Embarrassingly wide. Then let the dust settle and make the smartest boring decision available. Prestige is a fine thing until you’re paying for it with money you don’t have chasing outcomes that aren’t guaranteed. The humble path taken confidently beats the prestigious path taken anxiously…
Police Officer in Louisiana. Undergrad in Texas with a BS in Criminal Justice. Wrote any optional essays available. Studied for the LSAT for approximately one week for a few hours a day before work but really did not want to retake. Applied late because this is my first attempt at the process and I didn’t know…
just don’t do it…. but if you’re going to - do everything (LSAT, submitting apps, questioning all your life choices that led you to this decision) at the earliest possible moment. find hobbies and interests outside of LSData and r/LSA. mine is my obsession with ginger ale, but to each their own. Law school is just…
Write all the optional essays you can. Construct a narrative for yourself and don’t sell yourself short. Shoot your shot– you may be surprised! Try to figure out what your priorities are and what you want to get out of your law degree, especially if you are non-Big Law oriented. This will help you make a decision.…
Fill your profile out as detailed as you possibly can! This means every app, every status update on your apps–all of it. I am so grateful for all of the previous applicants who have shared their data because it has helped me temper my expectations during this process. Pay it forward for the applicants to come!
(◕o◕) Definitely email schools you like or schools you know that give out CAS waivers and ask. The worst they can do is say no. Clearly I got a “few” applications this way haha. This process is already so expensive so save money where you can! Only apply to schools you would attend!!
Never hate your enemies, it affects your judgement.
live, laugh, love (as an act of defiance)
Make sure your roommate remembers when you’re taking the LSAT and that his band isn’t practicing while you take the exam… it can be extremely distracting and detrimental to your score.
June 2022 - 151 Applied to Northern Illinois University and University of Toledo with my 151 November 2022 - 158 I tried to be as detailed as possible for my fellow neurotic folks.
