Admitted to New York Law SchoolApplied w/ a 3.76. Went up to a 3.84 mid cycle. Cardozo twice (completely unprompted) increased scholarship 2X. Was initially offered 35,000 a year in my acceptance. In mid March, I was informed it had been increased to 40,000 a year, and then finally 2 weeks later I recieved another email telling me I was being…
the year of the waitlist I guess, lol. More than 50% of schools I applied to I was waitlisted at so that’s fun. Here’s some more info on my cycle: completed all optional essays - submitted unsolicited “Why X” essays to Cardozo, UW, and CU Boulder completed kira interview for Northwestern and interviewed with…
Starting to study in June for Aug, Oct, or Nov tests in preparation of attending 1L the following year will be really tough. Everyone says start early and give yourself plenty of time and it’s really the truth! 7Sage, BluePrint, and LSAT done right (tutoring) was the best for me. I wish I had started using the LSAT…
This cycle is brutal
I don’t think it helped that I applied early - the cycle was slow and I heard back later than others with better stats. If you’re debating taking the LSAT again, take the LSAT again. Get money not waitlists. I suffered from having an international gpa (see lowball $cholly offers from Brooklyn and Cardozo) and a…
LSAT wisdom: start studying before you think you need to start studying- don’t sign up to take a test until you’re ready signing up before you’re ready will not get you motivated to study more than you already are – so don’t do it learn the fundamentals and then drill, drill, drill be consistent, not perfect try to…
No retest just reapplying since last cycle I applied late Feb-March… My stats aren’t exact cuz THEY BE WATCHING ME Update: Ended up committing to GW after a couple back and forth for scholarship negotiations. Did decent 1L, Landed Biglaw SA in NYC, at V20…. Transferring ED to CLS starting my 2L fall. NEVER BACK…
You should be the main character in your personal statement, and there should be a through line that explains why law and why now. As a veteran, I recommend focusing more on what impact or change you want to make, rather than strictly your military service. But, I also think you should highlight your service because…
I WANT TO CRYYYY UGHHH
if you’re doom scrolling lsd and you happen across this page, this is your sign to take a deep breath and go get a glass of wine
Fordham “Complete Application” Date Change: 12/5 –> 12/12 –> Decision: 1/05 GWU “Review in progress”: 12/16 –> Date and paragraph disappear: 1/10 –> Decision: 1/12 Cardozo “Complete and under review”: 1/5 –> 1/11 –> 1/22 –> Decision: 1/25 UVA “Under review”: 12/07 –> 1/04 –> Decision: 4/12 GULC (stayed as app…
Apply wide. Really wide. Embarrassingly wide. Then let the dust settle and make the smartest boring decision available. Prestige is a fine thing until you’re paying for it with money you don’t have chasing outcomes that aren’t guaranteed. The humble path taken confidently beats the prestigious path taken anxiously…
Apply as early and broadly as you possibly can. If you’re not BigLaw-or-bust, don’t go to the fanciest school that accepts you. Go to any school with adequate career outcomes that you personally like and can most easily afford. If you won’t be satisfied outside the T14, be prepared to R&R no matter your stats.
Get your materials ready ASAP. I got mine ready to apply in the previous cycle, realized I would get no scholarship money so I waited for the next cycle since I had the ability to do so fortunately. With that I definitely feel it has benefitted me in the scholarship department. Also really think about where you…
I applied later in the cycle. Apply as early as possible then spend your time making connections with admissions offices to bump you off the waiting list. It can be helpful if you have more time (since you applied early) to keep that up and make a thoughtful decision. Waiting until later can be stressful b/c you’re…
dont crash ur car before ur lsat!
Be practical about where you’re applying. Interest rates are high, the job market is tightening, and even those who get jobs in big law regularly refer to their situation as “golden handcuffs.” Where you go to law school does not define the ceiling of your success as an attorney, but having well over six figures of…
