There are many paths, none of them will make you happy, only you can do that.

Admitted to Ohio State UniversityTook LSAT in college when I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and was going through my pre-quarter-life crisis. Bought the score preview and took without studying to have baseline/backup. Got 168 but decided not to apply. Worked for 2 years- decided, actually yes I want to go to law school. which, yay!,…
Work hard on your personal statement and make sure it’s a cohesive argument for your acceptance to a law school. Write like a future lawyer. Your writings and letters of rec matter tremendously for scholarship offers. Don’t slack.
Revise, revise, and then revise some more. Your first draft won’t be your best work and neither will your second or third.
Gain some professional experience. Treat everything, especially school, like you’re a professional. Getting a humanities masters may not strengthen your stats, but it will teach you to skim hundreds of pages a week and make you a strong researcher and academic writer. Experience grading essays also makes you a much…
It’s easy to get tired of the cycle (I know I have), just try to remember why you wanted to go to law school in the first place and keep pushing till the end!
I would recommend writing a ‘Why X’ essay for schools you are very interested in, particularly if you are below median (see my WL offers). The only exception here for me is W&M. William & Mary - Wrote Why X. WL on 2/21, invited to interview for admission on 2/29. They were straightforward about most admissions off…
feel free to DM, still check this sometimes & happy to chat! **Vandy WL -> A timeline: ** 12/2 - Application sent- 2/14 - Sent resume update & expressed continued interest 3/30 - decision rendered 4/16 - LOCI sent 5/25 - WL interview invite, replied same day 5/27 - Sent resume update 5/31 - WL interview 6/1 -…
**Attending University of Minnesota off the Waitlist ** Applied in November -> WL on Jan 24 -> LOCI on Feb 9 -> A on April 6. This was totally unexpected but it came with enough scholarship money to make my decision easy. My LOCI focused on their IP concentration, my interest in staying in Minneapolis after…
Going into this cycle, UChicago was my top choice, and I was so happy to get in! I realized later on that Chicago was not a city I wanted to be in long-term (having grown up in a small/medium-sized city), and the debt was not something I wanted to take on. I visited the University of Minnesota and fell in love with…
Start writing your essays early. Write them. Then don’t look at them for a month. Then go back and write them again. You’ll be surprised with how much better they come out!
LSAT Demon is the way to go. Began studying in May, took the exam once in August, got my score, was done. Don’t just use the platform, listen to the podcasts & do it their way. I also talked to people from as many law schools as I could. I think this signaled strong interest in schools and helped me tailor my Why X…
Took the LSAT twice: April ’23 - 165 June ’23 - 171 Full-time work in construction and full-time undergrad throughout the whole lsat/application process. So I’m both a non-traditional student with 15 years of work history, and in some ways a k-jd My low gpa was tempered a bit. All my low grades were from more than…
Don’t ever stop fighting; don’t ever give up
I applied with a 170 at first then raised to a 172 during the cycle. My advice: apply broadly and apply early (before Thanksgiving: perfect). As soon as I got the 170, I knew I was applying everywhere with that and riding with it even if I didnt raise my score. That absolutely hurt me at some schools but it all…
Apply early and broadly Ask for fee waivers (many schools will gladly help offset costs if you ask for it, especially if it’s a financial hardship) Negotiate (don’t give up after the first try) - one of my offers went from 70% initial » asked for more and was told there wasn’t money »> then showed 2 other full…
I will add my advice here once my cycle is done. Currently trying my best to get into my dream school with a nice scholarship. Wish me luck!
Shoot your shot. Now that I’m mid-way through my cycle, I’ve learned how truly unpredictable law school admissions cycles are. I was rejected from schools I thought I’d get into, and accepted/waitlisted at schools I thought I’d be rejected from. Law school admission calculators and Reddit enthusiasts do not take…
