It was radio silence from that feeler for the next month until I finally got the A! Don’t give up, don’t email annoying them every day, and don’t forget to lean on your support systems!
Honestly, I have to say one thing if there wasn’t a max at $400,000 on the scholarships amount that I am able to input, they would be higher.
…aid at Stanford. I chose NYU for the half-tuition scholarship, because I was interested in public interest (the PI community at Stanford is smaller than NYU), NYU’s LRAP is marginally better, my support network is in NYC, and I ultimately want to practice in NYC. I took a big risk and wrote about a very controversial topic in my PS, which I think led to a lot of the waitlists and the SLS admit. All in all, I wouldn’t change things, but in the middle of February I was definitely…

…but a higher score could have landed me some better scholarships. Reddit advice is generally advisable, but not the end all be all. I never gave myself a chance at a T6 based on what people on reddit were saying - but I applied anyway and here we are. APPLY EVERYWHERE YOU CAN. My one big regret is not applying HYS…
…and I was content to go there, especially with the scholarship. The only thing that could have changed my mind was Harvard, as I knew I’d get aid, or a better offer from Duke. Didn’t apply for aid at NW, GULC, or CLS. Wasn’t interested in those schools since NW and CLS acceptances came after Harvard. I chose Harvard…
