You will never be as good as somebody else competing for the same spot.
Literally just email every admissions office you plan to apply to and ask for a fee waiver - a lot of the time, they have an allowance of waivers to hand out, even if you don’t light up their LSAC filter. It takes maybe an hour or two of your time, and can save you hundreds of dollars.
Definitely applied to too many schools, but that is hindsight now.
For all of my schools, I applied between November 30-December 15.

Take your time when writing essays! Edit and revise often!
