What follows is a comprehensive explanation of my application path to law school. I originally created this document as a PDF for a group of incredible mentees. Time will be your greatest asset or your worst enemy- I began preparing two years before the 2024 application cycle. I’ve divided ‘my story’ into nine…

Admitted to University of OregonApply earlier than you think and make sure your application conveys your “Why” Cycle Update 3/26/2026 This cycle has been a whirlwind, I felt thrown off about 87% of the time, but I’m overall super happy with the acceptances I’ve received. I’m not someone who would like to wait on a waitlist for personal planning…
I want to share a couple of things I’ve learned through my application process that you might want to know before I forget. Some of these are things I am glad I did as well as some things that I would do over if I could. I wish I would have gotten my apps in earlier. Most application windows open September 1. If I…
Don’t be afraid to approach law school differently than most do. I chose to keep my costs down, go to school in a location I like, and only applied to one school where I would’ve had to take out loans. I got a lot of scholarship money, plus another scholarship and a fellowship that mean I will graduate debt-free in…
My goal in entering the 2022/23 Cycle: Get a full ride (or very close); Receive no conditions on said full ride; Be in Washington State (but also consider other states just in case). I ended up choosing Gonzaga Law. Some of this stems from my desire to be in WA State, even Eastern WA, long term. Secondly, I want to…
If you are a splitter, apply as soon as possible. I applied in Oct but should have applied in September but was lazy. I also had subpar personal statements (if you are non-trad, focus on Why Law? and Why Now?). I shouldn’t have wasted my ED on Berk as I knew I wouldn’t get in, but it was my top choice as a Bay Area…
Work so hard that it is UNREASONABLE for you NOT to succeed. Always, Always, Always, BET ON YOU!!
Focus on what you can control. Keep an eye on your long term goals, and find reasons to be grateful for where you are now.
Believe in yourself, no matter what. I put off even taking a diagnostic test for two years because I didn’t think I was smart enough for law school. You can do whatever you put your mind to, if you’re willing to put in the work.
Start studying for the lsat 2 months before you think you should. Reach out to LORs in the spring before apps open and get them in LSAC by September. Utilize your university writing center; it is their job to help you start/fix your essays. You got this!! You will get into school.
Shoot your shot! Apply to as many schools as you can. LSAT scores aren’t everything, and as long as you have a strong application, it should be fine. Apply to safeties, target, and reach schools, you never know where you’ll get offers. Admission decisions are unpredictable and different for each school. Keep your…
You’ve only got one shot at life. Make the most out of it.
Radiate positivity and love to manifest getting accepted into the law school of your dreams.
Because of my GPA, I scared myself into believing I had to achieve a perfect LSAT score and delayed testing for almost 4 years. The forums and the chat can be useful, but they can also be harmful. Know your limit. If you start to doubt your worth, your chances, yourself.. UNPLUG. I did not pay for study programs or…
If I Can Stop One Heart from Breaking By Emily Dickinson If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain; If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin Unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain.
celebrate your little wins, be easy on yourself, don’t forget how bell curves work, and never ever ask for advice on reddit (instead ask: an admissions officer at that school, a professor or faculty member at your undergrad, a friend in law school, etc)
You got this. Don’t let others define your goals or your success for you. UofO bound! Here are my thoughts at the end of my cycle: If you can renegotiate scholarships DO SO.- Using some of my other scholarship offers as leverage I was able to increase other offers at other schools. Take your peers advice with a…
Attended a large public California school for one year before transferring back home to a smaller liberal arts school in the midwest (regionally well known) -Did have C&F issues regarding drinking citations from my school but not within a year of when I was applying (all from my sophomore year) -Took LSAT Flex in…
