case brief

Read a random definition: flipping

A quick definition of case brief:

A case brief is a summary of a legal case that includes important details such as the parties involved, the legal issue, and the court's decision. It helps lawyers and judges understand the key points of a case quickly and easily. Case evaluation is a process of resolving disputes outside of court, often through mediation. Caseflow refers to the movement of cases through the judicial system, from the beginning to the end, and an analysis of that movement.

A more thorough explanation:

Definition: A case brief is a summary of a legal case that includes the key facts, issues, and holdings of the case. It is used to help lawyers and judges understand the case and its significance.

Example: John v. Smith is a case about a car accident. John was driving his car when Smith ran a red light and hit him. John sued Smith for damages. The court found that Smith was at fault for the accident and awarded John $10,000 in damages.

Explanation: In this example, a case brief for John v. Smith would include the key facts (car accident, John driving, Smith running a red light), the issue (who was at fault for the accident), and the holding (Smith was at fault and John was awarded damages). This brief would help lawyers and judges understand the case and its outcome.

Definition: Caseflow refers to the movement of cases through the judicial system, from the initial filing to the final appeal. It can also refer to an analysis of that movement.

Example: The caseflow for a criminal case might look like this: arrest, arraignment, pretrial motions, plea bargaining, trial, sentencing, appeal. An analysis of this caseflow might show that most cases are resolved through plea bargaining rather than going to trial.

Explanation: This example illustrates the movement of a criminal case through the judicial system, from the initial arrest to the final appeal. An analysis of this caseflow can provide insights into how cases are resolved and where there may be bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the system.

@mastermonkey45: Looking at some of the recent decisions in relation to when they went complete, I'd say it's a good sign. It seems many declines were sent within about 5-6 weeks of completion. Given those were applications that were SENT in January, I'd say that means you're still solidly in the running. :)
