Initially offered $123k by Lewis and Clark; negotiated up to $132k. Likely would have gotten further with negotiations had I more leverage in the form of scholarships from other schools, but didn’t care to bother applying elsewhere besides the 2 moonshot Ivies. …for the purpose of using their scholarship award for negotiation can save you tens of thousands. When it came time for me to negotiate scholarships with GW, I realized I didn’t have many solid options to use as leverage. If I’d applied to more schools I would have.
…rec letter. They did not offer any money and rejected my negotiation attempt. I am going at sticker which might be a bad financial decision but it is what it is I suppose. Money is not real. I wish I applied to schools earlier and less sporadically. The earlier you get accepted, the more time you have to learn from students and admin & negotiate scholarships. Plus, some schools can take three or four months to get back to you, which leaves little turnaround before deposit deadlines. Aim for finishing…
…a non-option due to living costs in the Seattle area. I negotiated Scholarship money with MSU from 30k/yr up to 32k. It sounds like that is about the typical bump that MSU offers. Wayne State asked for an additional addendum for my GPA, and then never responded, despite my being UR for almost 5 months. Per reddit,…
…push me to a higher scholarship there which I used to negotiate a great offer at my top choice, OU. Finally, be aware of too many addendums. I took the LSAT flex and lost power halfway through– technically I did not lose any test time as the proctor let me pick up where I left off. However, this did significantly…

Negotiate your scholarships!!!! The worst they can say is no. With the exception of Northwestern (because they said they weren’t going to negotiate with anyone this year), I got more money everywhere I asked.

Apply to peer schools of the school you want to attend to have competing scholarship offers to negotiate with. In hindsight I would have applied to more schools for more negotiation leverage.
…probation) addendum to every school **Scholarship Negotiations: **UF called 3/4 offering me an additional 6k/year (“sunshine stipend”) if I would commit by the following Tuesday. This would have bumped me up to full tuition + a 4.1k stipend. Mentioned this offer to W&M and UGA 3/5. Both got back to me 3/7. W&M…
I applied so broadly because I wanted to try and negotiate scholarships. Unfortunately the only scholarship I was able to negotiate at all was at GULC. Looking back, I would have just blanketed the T20 + ND and ignored the rest, but I am nonetheless thankful for a successful cycle. GO BLUE!

I had interesting, unique work experience and worked full-time during undergrad, which AOs commented on at multiple schools. I am not gunning BigLaw and am…
…Aim for money. seventh, don’t be afraid of scholarship negotiation. eighth, get recommendation letters early. Bonus points if they are coherent to your essays. Ninth, Don’t apply to Loyola University Chicago. tenth, It’s going to be okay. Don’t get stuck on the big law hype train.
Apply early! Do not do what I did! I believe I would have had more acceptances and better success in scholarship negotiations if I had taken my own adivce.
