Admitted to Cornell University…to be a very strong application. I have multiple ~T2 softs and sharpened my essays for nearly a year. Strategy Lesson - write all optionals I wrote all the “optional” essays. This seems to be common sense to me but apparently some people don’t understand this. If you can neatly slip a variant of Why X into essays…
…don’t have prestigious awards/internships or other T1/T2 softs (I didn’t), it just means you have to have a well-rounded application with a compelling personal statement and cohesive narrative for law school. Without giving away too much personal information, I had some fairly unique aspects of my childhood that…
…foreign language double major- What I would guess are T2.5 softs (3 years in top consulting firm; relevant/competitive internships every summer and semester of college; AmeriCorps service; US Senate work; federal agency work; selective fellowship; exceptional amount of in-depth campus leadership experience;…

…a history of service and leadership, along with amazing softs and a high GPA from a well-known undergraduate program. I definitely think my passion, hard work, and emotional intelligence shined through my applications.

My wisdom is this: I have no wisdom. I am a Mexican-American URM with a unique soft. I’m writing this before I receive any decision, but a horrible cycle would probably be due to me applying at 19 years old. If I had a normal/good cycle, then I guess age doesn’t matter!
Diversity statement about a unique childhood hardship and poverty (which by some classifications might mean T3 softs? T 3.5?) Wrote optional essays everywhere they were available Why x’s for all schools excluding: t6 (though included a paragraph in Columbia PS), WashU, BU, NW, + Core values instead of why X for Penn…
Wrote Why X for all schools I was admitted to. Heavily lent on my soft factors (URM, legal experience, great LORs from folks who knew me well). Tried to limit how much I check r/lawschooladmissions.
Apply to “soft safeties” i.e. schools where you’re pretty damn certain you’ll get in BUT would also actually consider going there–it may be where you end up, and thats ok.
I put myself as T4 softs because I’m KJD and most of my resume items are typical undergraduate activities: legal internship, lab research, TA position, and club leadership. However, I am a first-generation college student with 2 majors (STEM + business-related), which maybe helped me standout a little bit, but…
Softs: Engineer, ~3 years of unique work experience, graduate degree, significant time spent volunteering Personal statement: described the series of events that led me to pursuing law school School specific optional essays I wrote: Stanford: “Would you rather travel to the Moon or travel the Earth?” Harvard: None…
…as much. Also, if you’re a reverse splitter like me, those softs can be the world. I seriously believe I performed the way I did because of them, because my LSAT sure wasn’t doing any favors lol
…not write a DS (felt it would mirror my PS too closely). Softs are** very mediocre (no organization involvement, closest I have was being a member of the UF Ultimate Frisbee team. My lack of involvement was primarily due to COVID** forcing school into an online format for an entire year, but also due to my…
