all scholarship info is total EDIT: on 06/05/2020, I increased my LSAT from 160 to 163. All results are with my 160, unless otherwise noted. EDIT, EDIT: ended up transferring to T20 school after 1L. UNLV: 10/29 - refreshed my status checker for UNLV to find myself admitted! Admissions called the next morning to make…

Admitted to University of Oregon…Said the admission packet would arrive in the mail with scholarship offer. 12/8 OU acceptance call. No mention of scholarship/mailer 12/8 Hastings rejection email. 12/8 Richmond acceptance packet came with a Deans Scholarship awarding full tuition coverage for 6 consecutive full time semesters with satisfactory…
…regular decision are significantly higher let alone the scholarship. Schools realllllyyyy want you to apply ED, basically because it protects their yield rate (the amount of admissions offered vs admissions accepted) which is a factor in their ranking. For this reason they offer significant scholarships. For…
…few weeks later off the waitlist at Oregon with 25k/yr in scholarship. The full ride was so tempting but I was just not excited about the school. Again I felt defeated. I Really wanted to get as much money as possible to a school I was excited about. Was super pumped about Oregon, but not so pumped about the…
…where I would’ve had to take out loans. I got a lot of scholarship money, plus another scholarship and a fellowship that mean I will graduate debt-free in three years. Taking on tens of thousands of dollars in debt at 8% interest was unconscionable to me. When I graduate, I can go work anywhere I want without…
You got this. Don’t let others define your goals or your success for you. UofO bound! Here are my thoughts at the end of my cycle: If you can renegotiate scholarships DO SO.- Using some of my other scholarship offers as leverage I was able to increase other offers at other schools. Take your peers advice with a…
…taken more time to study to get into better schools/scholarships but I really just wanted to get it out of the way more or less. -Applied to 4 reach, 4 targets, and 6 safety schools because of fear around the hyper-competitive cycle of 2020-2021 -Applied to schools near or around cities/markets that I would want to…
Get your materials ready ASAP. I got mine ready to apply in the previous cycle, realized I would get no scholarship money so I waited for the next cycle since I had the ability to do so fortunately. With that I definitely feel it has benefitted me in the scholarship department. Also really think about where you…
…and University of Utah. As you can see from the scholarships I received, cost was a large factor. I didn’t need a school that could get me into big law, I only needed a school that would give me a good legal education packed with public interest experience. I saw Gonzaga for this, its low cost of living,…
…Davis after the rest of my apps and they gave me a great scholarship (plus I will be able to get residency through AB 540) so the money difference was what made my choice for me. Davis is a good school as well, obviously, and the people in the administration have been amazing thus far, tied with Lewis and Clark as…
…interested in public interest and always try to negotiate scholarships. You can do this!
Pay as much money as you can to do well the LSAT, especially if you are a splitter. A few thousand on a course can make up for tens of thousands in scholarships. Originally applied to 5 schools 2020-21 cycle with a 15low and got 4/5 waitlists, no acceptances. Reapplying this cycle with higher LSAT and fingers…
Apply to similarly ranked schools and leverage different scholarship offers to negotiate for more money! Remember, there is no shortcut to a dream. You got this!
…It is simply too expensive and they gave me hardly any scholarship. Plus, I just got a new job that is amazing so law school may not be even worth it now. Still holding out on U of AZ for on the waitlist just because it is my dream school. I may apply one more time next cycle.
…than I did when I applied for 2020. I’m looking at better scholarship offers, have more work experience, and more dedication to this path–good luck!!
…ass gradient. Negotiated with PSU and UNLV. PSU raised scholarship to $30k per year. Thought it was a done deal, that is until UNLV swooped in with a truly awesome offer. They are offering me a Graduate Fellowship that decreases my tuition to the in-state rate and are upholding the 1/2 tuition offer they gave me.
Ask for a fee waiver at every school you apply for, I received one at all 11 schools. Also NEGOTIATE YOUR SCHOLARSHIPS, it doesn’t hurt to ask and the worst they can do is say no!
