Admitted to University of Idaho“What, like it’s hard?” it IS hard
*4-5 years of work experience ( inconspicuous offices jobs - nothing law related. no major accolades or awards. Super average Office Space tier work). Did construction work for about a year in the middle of that. White Straight Male no disabilities/disadvantages/hardships of any kind. *Low tier state school in the…
Former Intelligence Officer. Disabled Veteran. Worked for NSA, Army, DOD. Company Commander in Afghanistan. Meritorious Service Medal. Graduated Undergrad in 3 years. Masters Degree in Education at 22. 30 years old at time of applications. GI Bill. Your Veteran status does NOT matter. You are not going to receive…
I got into Georgetown and was offered full tuition at a few schools with a terrible GPA and decent LSAT. I also had to disclose a misdemeanor, academic warning, and two gaps in my undergraduate degree to almost every school I applied to. My essays and addenda were polished, and I got positive feedback on them from…
Studying: Try your best, don’t get disappointed at low scores because you are trying and that is what’s important. (◕-◕) Taking LSAT: Breathe and keep going no matter how hard a section is. Waiting for score: Calm down and stop thinking about how terrible you did! (I thought I wouldn’t even get a 150 but got 155…
“Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?” “No.” “I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis… was a Dark Lord of the Sith so powerful and so wise, he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians… to create… life. He had such a knowledge of the…
Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose. -LBJ Quit letting people tell you what you can and can’t do: Tanked my GPA my freshman year of undergrad (with F’s) and dropped out of college to focus on working. Returned to finish undergrad while working full-time and proceeded to earn a 4.0…
For advice, the best I can say is don’t apply late in the cycle like I did. Had I been able to take the LSAT earlier and apply earlier, I could have maybe gotten into some schools where I was waitlisted and rejected. My top choices where I was accepted were Washington and Lee, Kansas, Wisconsin, Idaho, and Florida…
Apply wide. Really wide. Embarrassingly wide. Then let the dust settle and make the smartest boring decision available. Prestige is a fine thing until you’re paying for it with money you don’t have chasing outcomes that aren’t guaranteed. The humble path taken confidently beats the prestigious path taken anxiously…
Looks like an R and R year for me. I initially put down a deposit for Oregon Law but will be withdrawing. It is simply too expensive and they gave me hardly any scholarship. Plus, I just got a new job that is amazing so law school may not be even worth it now. Still holding out on U of AZ for on the waitlist just…
GPA is low due to a heavily abusive relationship in college that ruined the first 3 years of my undergraduate. The final year was a great bounce back, but obviously only does so much. Some offers are definitely better than others. It seems a lot of schools are not willing to look past the GPA despite writing an…
You got it girl, You got it. -Drake (No Guidance)
Make sure you have a safety school! Or a super safety school. It may not be your dream school, but you can try to transfer later, and it feels so nice to finally get my first A after a few rejections. I know I can at least GO to law school this year!
Apply more broadly than you think is necessary, especially if applying in Feb/March. Apply as early as possible! I had no LORs from any academic source, only from my work supervisors. I think this played a significant role in admission decisions.
You get what you put into it… tell the truth.
change da worl. my final message. Goodb ye
There is a road, no simple highway, between the dawn and the dark of night. And if you go, no one may follow. That path is for your steps alone. Robert Hunter
